Have you ever tried to teach your kids, family or friends about stewardship? Because we’re spending so much time in our home, I’ve been trying to impart on my family the joy of stewarding our home – taking care of what we have. This is a biblical theme that has been heavily impressed on my heart.
As I’ve learned more about stewardship, I’ve had a greater heart for what God’s given me, and it’s been a great mindset switch and a change in my heart. I want to take care of what I have, for the glory of God.
Stewarding my home has meant a new attitude in the way I clean, work to take care of it and those within it. I’ve compiled a list of things I’m doing to do this well and I’ve put it on my website for you to look at if this is an area where you want to grow as well.
However, this is not just about doing things, but also the status of my heart. My relationship with Jesus has to be at the center of stewardship. When my heart is off or my focus is on myself instead of Jesus, not only is taking care of my house a selfish thing, it becomes a prideful thing. This is something I’ve had to watch for myself. With all of the extra tasks and noise coming at me, I’ve had a hard time focusing on spending time reading my Bible and praying. I see a difference in my life and something feels off. My goal for this weekend is to get back into the routine of time with God. It’s important.
Our heart is reflected in our physical actions and words. Here are the ways I’m stewarding my home and those within it:
- toxin-free living. Over the last few years, I’ve been working to get rid of all of the harmful chemicals that can cause cancer, asthma, hormonal imbalance and more from our home. It is not easy, but it is possible to do one step at a time!
- Getting a house and cell phone Memon.
- Eating organic as much as possible. The “dirty dozen” are 12 foods that the Environmental Working Group deems as best if eaten organic. You can view the list here.
My heart for you all to have healthy homes for you and your family to thrive in.
I’m inviting you to join me as I teach on creating a healthy home on Tuesday night (April 18, 2020 for the live class). I’ll be talking about Young Living products as well as some other ways you can start removing toxins from your home on a budget.
